Create a Widget

Create a Raffle widget: choose its layout, whether it searches, chats or both, and the sources it uses.

Create a widget

Go to Widgets and click Add new widget. The list below it shows all your widgets, including API widgets.

The Widgets page

How many widgets you can have depends on your plan. When you’ve reached the limit, delete a widget or contact Raffle Support to upgrade.

A short wizard guides you through the setup. Click Next after each step, or Back to change an earlier choice.

1. Select a type

Choose between a widget and an API widget

Choose between a widget and an API widget

Choose Widget to put a ready-made search bar or chat assistant on your website. If you’d rather build your own interface, choose API; see Create an API widget.

2. Choose method

Start blank or from an existing widget

Start blank or from an existing widget

Create a blank widget starts with the default settings. Create from template copies the settings, layout and sources of one of your existing widgets; select it from the list. This step only appears when you already have a widget, and a copy skips the next two steps.

3. Select a layout for your widget

The four layouts

Choose Launcher, Embedded, Overlay or Pill. See Layouts for how each one looks. You can change the layout later on the General tab.

4. Choose how to use your widget

Enable search, chat or both

Enable search, chat or both

Select Search, Chat or both. Which ones you can use depends on your plan. Pill widgets are chat-only, so this step is skipped for them.

5. Give your widget a name

The widget name

The widget name

The name is only visible to you and your team. If you leave it empty, the widget is named after its layout, for example overlay - 1.

6. Configure data sources for this widget

Privacy settings and sources

Privacy settings and sources

  • Privacy Settings: choose Public use for a widget on your website, or Internal use for one used at your workplace. Internal sources can only be used by internal widgets.
  • Knowledge Base: if your account has several, choose the one the widget uses. It decides which sources you can select.
  • Sources: turn on the sources the widget should search and answer from, or click Select all. You need at least one.
  • MCP tools: for chat widgets, if you’ve connected MCP servers, select the tools the chat can call.

Click Complete to create the widget.

Widgets and sources are separate, so you can link them as you like: one widget for all your content, or several widgets that each use different sources, for example one per customer group.

Customise your widget

Once the widget is created, it opens on its General tab, where you can change its look and features. See Customise for all the settings. When you’re ready, test and install it.

Delete a widget

Open the widget, click the ⋮ menu at the top right and choose Delete Widget. You can also click ⋯ next to the widget on the Widgets page and choose Delete.

Only account admins can delete widgets, and not on the free plan. You’re asked to confirm. Deleting can’t be undone: the widget and all the data collected through it are permanently removed.

To stop showing a widget without deleting it, remove the Raffle script from your website, or contact Raffle Support to disable it temporarily.
